I would setup a network link between the "real" host and the uml host, for example with an ethertap interface on the "real" host, and then use xhost on the "real" host to accept X connections from the uml host and set the DISPLAY environment variable on the uml host. Something like: # ------------------------------------------------------------ # Configuring ethertap links. # ------------------------------------------------------------ ### Please run the following command as root: insmod ethertap ### Please run the following command as root: ifconfig tap0 arp mtu 1484 \ 10.116.117.1 \ netmask 255.255.255.0 \ broadcast 10.116.117.255 up # ------------------------------------------------------------ # Launching the User-Mode-Linux virtual host connectiva-6.5 # root_fs_conectiva_20010420 24M RAM 32M SWAP # eth0[10.116.117.2 /24]--> tap0[10.116.117.1 ] #------------------------------------------------------------ umask 077 dd if=/dev/zero of=swap-connectiva-6.5-46-14966 bs=1M count=32 mkswap swap-connectiva-6.5-46-14966 xterm -title connectiva-6.5 -ls -sb -sl 2500 -fg '#004' -bg PaleGoldenrod \ -e linux eth0=ethertap,tap0 \ mem=24M \ ubd1=swap-connectiva-6.5-46-14966 \ ubd0=root_fs_conectiva_20010420 & # ------------------------------------------------------------ # Configuring routes on the host. # ------------------------------------------------------------ ### Please run the following command as root: route add -net 10.117.0.0/24 gw 10.116.117.2 dev tap0 xhost +10.116.117.2 And on the uml host: ifconfig eth0 10.116.117.2 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 10.116.117.255 up export DISPLAY 10.116.117.1:0.0 xterm & -- __Pascal_Bourguignon__ (o_ Software patents are endangering () ASCII ribbon against html email //\ the computer industry all around /\ and Microsoft attachments.
