OK will try a force the UML to use swap space. I just wante to know why the UML stack oveflow when a small amount of memroy is used. I think the 29M memory was just too small to handle larger apps - such as installing vim or ssh via apt-get. To anwer your 'aside' I use these kernelts for as production servers running web servers, samba, ldap etc. I use the Debian stable part of the distribution for stablitily reasons and found the 2.4.27. guest kernel to be one the most stable for these systems. I have not yet tested newer host or guest kernels I still very new to UMLS (A few months ago I had not known agout UMLS) Which would you suggest? Thanks Gerhard > Am I missing something while setting up the swap space? > Is there a way of verifying that it eve works? It works - I've had a UML ~500M into swap for the last 5 days.
