Hi all! I tried to run UML on my SuSE 9.0 with host kernel 2.6.4, which has the skas3 patch applied and /proc/mm enabled. Other than that it's plain vanilla. /usr/src/linux# uname -a Linux linux 2.6.4skas3 #11 SMP Tue May 4 00:50:00 CEST 2004 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux /usr/src/linux # grep -i PROC .config CONFIG_PROC_MM=y ... $ /usr/bin/linux ubd0=root_fs eth0=tuntap,,,192.168.0.254 mem=64M Checking for the skas3 patch in the host...found Checking for /proc/mm...found Linux version 2.6.4-1um (user@linux) (gcc version 3.3.1 (SuSE Linux)) #1 Mon May 3 22:06:20 CEST 2004 On node 0 totalpages: 16384 DMA zone: 16384 pages, LIFO batch:4 Normal zone: 0 pages, LIFO batch:1 HighMem zone: 0 pages, LIFO batch:1 Built 1 zonelists Kernel command line: ubd0=root_fs eth0=tuntap,,,192.168.0.254 mem=64M root=98:0 PID hash table entries: 16 (order 4: 128 bytes) Memory: 60608k available Calibrating delay loop... 3473.40 BogoMIPS Dentry cache hash table entries: 8192 (order: 3, 32768 bytes) Inode-cache hash table entries: 4096 (order: 2, 16384 bytes) Mount-cache hash table entries: 512 (order: 0, 4096 bytes) Checking for host processor cmov support...Yes Checking for host processor xmm support...No Checking that ptrace can change system call numbers...OK Checking that host ptys support output SIGIO...Yes Checking that host ptys support SIGIO on close...No, enabling workaround Checking for /dev/anon on the host...Not available (open failed with errno 2) POSIX conformance testing by UNIFIX NET: Registered protocol family 16 SCSI subsystem initialized mconsole (version 2) initialized on /home/ingo/.uml/mnARCw/mconsole ikconfig 0.7 with /proc/config* Installing knfsd (copyright (C) 1996 ok...@mo...). I tried searching the mailing list and all I found was two hints: one to use skas3 (which doesn't seem to cure the problem) and another to check the following settings: ~/local/usermodelinux/linux-2.6.4$ grep CHAN .config CONFIG_FD_CHAN=y CONFIG_NULL_CHAN=y CONFIG_PORT_CHAN=y CONFIG_PTY_CHAN=y CONFIG_TTY_CHAN=y CONFIG_XTERM_CHAN=y CONFIG_CON_ZERO_CHAN="fd:0,fd:1" CONFIG_CON_CHAN="pty" CONFIG_SSL_CHAN="pty" The default CONFIG_CON_CHAN="xterm" didn't work either. Anybody some further ideas? TIA, Ingo -- Ingo Strauch ---- Registered Linux User #227900 (http://counter.li.org/) http://www.the-one-brack.org/ |
