Is there a known problem compiling user mode linux 2.4.18.24um with kmod support? When I compile it with kmod support, I always get a Kernel panic: read of switch_pipe failed, errno =3D 9 --- begin --- System time was Sun May 19 08:32:02 UTC 2002. Setting the System Clock using the Hardware Clock as reference... modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module char-major-10-135 hwclock is unable to get I/O port access: the iopl(3) call failed. modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module char-major-10-135 sleeping process 13444 got unexpected signal : 13 Kernel panic: read of switch_pipe failed, errno =3D 9 --- end --- My host system is running Debian sid, with a 2.4.17 kernel. The strange thing is that I can use rootstrap to generate a root filesystem (also Debian sid), while rootstrap itself also uses my uml kernel. When I afterwards boot the system using my uml, I get the kernel panic mentioned before. If I compile my uml without kmod support, "everything"[1] seems to work fine.
