Can you check with 2.6.21?  If that's OK, can you do a git bisect to
figure out which change broke things?

2.6.21.6 is OK, so can I deduce that 2.6.21 is OK also? I am a newbie in kernel development, so sorry for the silly question.
git bisect? OK, I will try to learn how to use git and git bisect. Wish I could output something helpful.
