I am trying to run UML with RedHat 8.0 initrd.img, so that I can follow the installation

procedure described at http://linuxhacker.ru/uml/, so my initrd.img is unmodified

and the simple command line is:

linux initrd=initrd.img ubd0=uml_hdd (an empty ext2fs formatted file) fakehdd fake_ide ubd=3

Yet the message I see is:

Kernel panic: Try passing init= option to the kernel.

I thought that the initrd= will make UML pass the right init= option to the kernel.

What am I doing wrong?
