Well I'm pretty poor when it comes to following directions. So as usual I
just started setting up tuxracer with running ./configure, make, etc, etc...
I think I accidently ended up with a workaround for the SDL/Mesa problem. I'm
running a very f.*d with rh6.2 installation...but the relevant stuff here
should be same as basic 6.2 with rh updated libraries, compiler 2.95, and so
on. Anyway...I ran tuxracer and all worked fine, except no sound and I also
got the slide over the rocks bug.
So when all else failed I read the instructions. Sort of...
I fixed the rock thing and then checked my rpm database and saw that I already
had SDL-1.1.2-1 installed. So I read more and figured out that I needed the
mixer. Following the links I ended up downloading SDL-1.1.5-1, installed
smpeg and SDLmixer.
I ran tuxracer and boom it was small screen...and still no sound.
So I went back and read some more...and figured out I needed to recompile.
Which I did and voila! Sound. Still no full screen.
So I'm reading the mailing list archive...and thought to myself...well I know
it was working full screen and no sound when I had SDL-1.1.2.
So...yes...I uninstalled all the SDL stuff. Reinstalled it with SDL-1.1.2-1
and guess what? It works great! Full screen 3D AND sound.
Thus the workaround is this:
Uninstall your shiny new SDL.
I haven't recompiled after doing this...I don't know...it seems to be working
fine and I'm not much of a perfectionist. Also haven't tried anything between
those two versions of SDL.
I would suggest then that the problem is in SDL, but of course I haven't
"really" found the issue. Oh yes...and I'm using Mesa 3.2 (3dfx V3000).
Hope that this helps. BTW so far the game looks great great great!

I finally found an opengl32.dll for 3dfx voodoo3 that kinda works with tux. What I
did was get the Wicked3D OpenGL driver installer and copied the opengl32.dll it uses
for StarTrek EliteForce game into the root tux dir.
It works in full screen mode with some things rendered improperly. Is there anyone
on the development team that I could send the DLL file to to see whats up with the
