When playing tuxracer, all is well except for the
fact that tux is pure white. This could be related to
the fog problem with ATI Rate128 cards. I have
disabled fog as suggested in the options file, but
this does not seem to have any effect. Suggestions?

Thanks,
David

I get exactly the same effect. I'm using Mandrake 8.0 with
nothing special apart from a recent update. My graphics
    card is a Matrox G200 AGP 8MB

I get this also with Mandrake 8.0 and a Matrox G400.

I have the same problem with a voodoo 3 2000 and RedHat 7.1

I see this also with a 64 MB Radeon, with XFree86 4.1.0 and
    DRI.

Using the XiG drivers, I *don't* see this problem, on
identical hardware. So this could be a Mesa or DRI bug
    (not loading textures for Tux?)

I'm having the same trouble on a Voodoo3 3000 under
Slackware. I think this is may be a bug in the DRI code, as
I've also had some weird problems in other GL applications.

I had this exact same problem w/ a Voodoo 5, but it was
easily fixed (at least for me). Just go into the config
file and there should be a field that you can change
that'll fix this. I'm not home right now so I can't look
and see which one, but it'll even say in the
comment "change this if tux is rendered strangely at the
cost of a few htz". Sorry I couldn't describe it better,
but just look in the comments and you'll find it.

Yep, that fixed it. Thanks for the help.

Fixed it for me, too -

[I forgot the exact parameter name, something about turning
off sphere lists, because sometimes Mesa doesn't work with
    them]
