Please make Transmission portable to be able to store all it's settings in program directory so it could be carried on USB drive or something.

Thanks for awesome work!

I don't plan to release something I would not use, or test. I'm not interested in a portable version.

So, you're really into installing software?
All day long, you just looooove installing software, right?

      Thanks anyways.

Hi there, I understand that you have no intention to make transmission-qt win portable and your reasons are valid.
I was just wondering if you would have any objections or requirements if myself or others were to make a portable version for / using the portableapp.com platform using your build?
Basicly it would invole taking your transmission-qt and repackaging it as a portableapp using their launcher and installer.
Information about portableapps.com and how to make an app portable can found at the following links
    http://portableapps.com/development
    http://portableapps.com/manuals/PortableApps.comLauncher/topics/qt.html#qt
    http://portableapps.com/

I found and followed this thread http://www.portablefreeware.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=16545 to get your app semi portable. I've only found a few issues so far that I'm trying to solve like the creation of the .config\qtcurve folder in the user directory and the dbus daemon not stopping when the app is exited ( i.e the user quits tranmission-qt).

I have been playing around testing by myself how to get trqtw to run as portable as possible as I can first by using what information I can find on forums and google.
I think I have found a solution of sorts to the creation of the .config\qtcurve folder by using the command Load=Run|transmission-qt.exe -g transmission-qt -style cleanlooks .||%c in hoekey but how this will be done in portableapps platform I'm not sure yet.
I also found this thread but it does not seem to work for me http://sourceforge.net/p/trqtw/discussion/1315797/thread/f258f25d/ but then I may be misinterpreting your post.

I am in no way a developer and I wouldn't know how to code to save myself so I'm learning as I go. Also I have not asked for any help or advice about making trqtw portable on any forums as I wanted to get your permission first, although I would like to ask on the portableapps.com for advice on getting trqtw working as a portableapp but I didn't want to do that without asking for your ok to make a portableapps version first.
Naturally full credit would be given to you for the creation of tranmission-qt win of course.

If you have any tips or advice I would be very greatful.
Thank you for your hard work and your time.

    Ray.

No objections, aside from the obvious (along with the files I install there is a CREDITS file with the long list of free open source software used to create this application, and a reference to their licenses, the COPYING file which is the original from Transmission, and COPYING.dbus which is the same from DBus. Those have to be reproduced to comply to the licenses, even if it is in a quiet way like I do.)

I've only found a few issues so far that I'm trying to solve like the creation of the .config\qtcurve folder in the user directory and the dbus daemon not stopping when the app is exited

First one was solved when I said so in the thread, then it seems I lost the change... until you mentioned it now. It will be fixed on the next release.

Second one is the way DBus works, its a daemon. I don't see any reason why leaving the daemon running would be any problem.

Where I do see a little bit of a problem is with file & magnet association, those are made by the installer... and I don't see (or know) how they would work with a 'portable app'. But its probably a minor detail.

    Hi,

I would like to add my vote for portable version of transmission-Qt. It's such a great software and portable version may only add to its popularity.
