I am running Solaris 10 and I just download open source tripwire 22.214.171.124
I am able to compile tripwire after some work.
I would like to tripwire notify me to "firstname.lastname@example.org" if any files is being modify instead of cron.
I already search for the forum and found the post from Ron Forrester but some how it does not working for tripwire 126.96.36.199.
Could some the point me some good direction please? Because RTFM doesn't help for I am not able to find any "fine manual"
Cron is supposed to mail you this, I fail to see the difference?
And if cron is compromised, that would be a problem.
As far as email not being sent, I'd try a test message via /bin/Mail. If that doesn't work, you won't get far. Check via mailq(1) to see if the messages are being generated and stored in the spool. Also check the maillog, especially if the messages are being transferred to another machine.
There can be a number of things which go wrong with mail delivery. That's why it's best to start small, and make certain that the basics work.
