The 1.2.4 release highlights are reworked tracks and cars, updated sound and added OpenAL support, more clever and new opponents, support for texture compression and downscaling, heavily improved collision detection and response, a Windows debug project, lots of little improvements and bug fixes, and an updated track editor.

The source package compiles on Linux, Windows (vc++ 6.0) and FreeBSD. For Windows users there is a binary only installer available. You find the installation instructions for the source package in the README file, a common mistake is to forget "make datainstall".
For optimal sound quality in Linux you need a modified version of OpenAL (we hope to bring the changes into OpenAL itself, but this will take time), which you can find in the Files section on our project page. There is as well an updated FAQ in the doc directory of the package in case you run into trouble. Bye, have fun,

Bernhard.
