When I try to play TORCS (at least version 1.2.3) in linux with kernel 2.6 my computer hangs. I can't reboot it with "reset" button, and when I turn computer off, I can't turn it on for an hour or so. Thanks. (Sorry for my English)

Hi, I'll go a bit through your report:
> in linux with kernel 2.6 my computer hangs.
Can you describe which linux distribution, if any? Which 2.6 version? What type of hardware is installed on your computer?
Run
torcs -l
to get a list of the libraries used.
> my computer hangs.
What do you mean by hangs? Does it just freeze, does the display go black? At which point does it happen exactly?
> when I turn computer off, I can't turn it on for an hour or so.
When you turn it off after running TORCS, you cannot turn it back on for an hour or so? Or is it always the case that after you turn it off you cannot turn it back on for an hour or so?

This is quite likely a driver, configuration or hardware problem. But you can send us the output of uname -a and glxinfo, plus your XFree86.0.log, perhaps we can help in case it is a configuration problem.
Bye, Bernhard.

The distribution is MandrakeLinux 10.1 community, kernel versions 2.6.7-2.6.12 (all are vanilla versions).

It feezes, screen goes black, keyboard is not responding, 'reset' and 'power off' buttons don't work. it happens after approx. 2 or 3 minutes when I run torcs. it can hang at the start of the game or in menu.
When I turn the computer on after the freeze, it hangs again.
In 2.4.x kernel TORCS works perfectly. I think that torcs incompatible with 2.6 kernel, or 2.6 kernel is incompatible with my computer. I saw this problem before I installed TORCS.I tried to play Galactic Civilization Demo and computer freezed the same way (but it was in Windows).

Ok, definitively no TORCS problem.
