I am trying to get Tora to work with Oracle instant client 10g in SuSe 9.2 Pro. I get an ORA-12154 error 'cannot retrieve text'.
I have all my env. variables set and can connect with SQL*Plus. Is this a conflict or am I missing something.
I tried to bump up a level to tora-alpha-188.8.131.52-1static.i686.rpm but when I compile and try to start it, I get
"lin1:/home/user1 # tora
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: No protocol specified
tora.real: cannot connect to X server :0.0
/usr/X11R6/bin/tora: line 10: 6630 Segmentation fault tora.real"
I couldn't get 1.2.4 to work with the instant client but I did get the alpha 184.108.40.206 to work. Here was what I did:
Installed Oracle Instant Client rpm
Set these environment variables:
created tnsnames.ora in the $TNS_ADMIN directory that points to my database instances.
Finally you have to make a soft link to libclntsh.so.10.1 named libclntsh.so in the /usr/lib/oracle/10.1.0.2/client/lib directory ($LD_LIBRARY_PATH)
This was with SuSe 9.1
