I downloaded the source from SVN and tried to build a debian package using the dpkg-buildpackage command but it does not work. Looking at the debian directory it appears that it has not been changed since 1.3.23.
Since there are Ubuntu debian binaries for version 2.0.0 available for download the debian packaging must have been done - it is possible to get that into SVN so others can build their own Debian packages. Else can the source tarball to build the debian package be uploaded?
Unfortunately I don't use ubuntu and use an older version of the Oracle Instant client - I had built 1.3.23 against that and would like to rebuild a standard debian package for 2.0.0.
