I was doing some simple regressions and was using sink() to dump the results to a text file. Using the previous version of Tinn-R, the following example script worked fine after using lm to run a simple regression:

sink(choose.files(),append=T,type="output")
print("Regression Results for X and Z.",quote=F)
summary(reggession1)
sink()

When submitted, the code would print the line of text, then append the summary of the regression results.

However, now using the new version of Tinn-R and the same version of R, the commands print("Regression result...",...) and summary(regression1) are echoed in the output when I use the menu button "submit selection echo=T". I tried using the submit selection without echoing, but then it only prints the text; the regression summaries do not appear.

The first problem is a bit irritating, but not all that serious, but I'm more concerned why submitting without echoing commands results in the output from summary() not appearing or not being executed.

Discussion

  • yes PLEASE bring back the old behavior
