hi, first if nobody objects i'd like to remove the youtube plugin from 1.10 which is basically the same as flash plugin and only proprietary to youtube second i'd replace it with gary's version which is more xhtml friendly: http://zukakakina.com/Flashobject_wikiplugin luci |

Hi Luci, In an ideal world, users should be able to copy/paste the code provided by YouTube/Daily Motion/etc or any one of the many services that can interact with TikiWiki (http://doc.tikiwiki.org/Interaction) and "it just works". However, now, in many cases, much of the code is stripped of html and/or javascript and it doesn't work. Since this stripping is for a good reason (security), we must provide better documentation as a workaround. Many of my users mostly use the Flash plugin for YouTube videos. And it's too complicated. So I was under the impression (haven't tested much though) that the YouTube video would be easier for them. I think they can just copy/paste the URL from YouTube and it works. Rodrigo wrote this enhancement. Rodrigo? Best regards, M ;-) luci aka luciash d' being wrote: > hi, > > first if nobody objects i'd like to remove the youtube plugin from 1.10 > which is basically the same as flash plugin and only proprietary to youtube > > second i'd replace it with gary's version which is more xhtml friendly: > > http://zukakakina.com/Flashobject_wikiplugin > > > luci > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------- > This SF.net email is sponsored by the 2008 JavaOne(SM) Conference > Don't miss this year's exciting event. re, i think it could be easily done in the flash plugin code: $movie = preg_replace('/(http:\/\/youtube\.com\/watch\?v=)(.*)/', 'http://www.youtube.com/v/$2', $movie); or something like that... luci btw, check this out ;) http://zukakakina.com/tiki-index.php?page=Shadowbox_gallery Marc Laporte napsal(a): > Hi Luci, > > In an ideal world, users should be able to copy/paste the code provided > by YouTube/Daily Motion/etc or any one of the many services that can > interact with TikiWiki (http://doc.tikiwiki.org/Interaction) and "it > just works". They need to worry about what they need to worry about, not what video format Youtube might choose to post their video in. Why should the user even care? Also, as an admin, it may be one less call or email I need to answer. \\Greg |

Hi Luci, the idea of the Youtube plugin is to make easy the process of displaying a Youtube video in the wiki page for newbies, as Marc mentioned. I'm not totally against the removal of the plugin if you (or some else) change the flash plugin to make it easier for users to display Youtube videos. Maybe something similar to the code you send and also a note in the help of the plugin. But, I prefer if we keep the Youtube plugin. We have to remember that for us it is obvious to try a plugin called flash to display a Youtube video, but a lot of users don't even know that Youtube uses Flash. Cheers, Rodrigo. P.S. you are doing some great stuff with shadowbox, I really enjoyed the Youtube video and the image gallery :-) On Fri, Apr 11, 2008 at 11:41 AM, luci aka luciash d' being <sf...@gr...> wrote: > re, > i think it could be easily done in the flash plugin code: > > $movie = preg_replace('/(http:\/\/youtube\.com\/watch\?v=)(.*)/', > 'http://www.youtube.com/v/$2', $movie); > > or something like that... > > luci > > btw, check this out ;) > http://zukakakina.com/tiki-index.php?page=Shadowbox_gallery > > > > Marc Laporte napsal(a): > > > > > Hi Luci, > > > > In an ideal world, users should be able to copy/paste the code provided by > YouTube/Daily Motion/etc or any one of the many services that can interact > with TikiWiki (http://doc.tikiwiki.org/Interaction) and "it just works". > However, now, in many cases, much of the code is stripped of html and/or > javascript and it doesn't work.
