Greetings - I recently stumbled across TikiWiki - and I am very impressed. I am the Director of Computer Services for a law school, and have been looking for something to use to create a Portal/Community site. I don't see any problems configuring the site to do what I have been looking for. My question goes to user account management. If I end up using the system, I will need to administer about 1,500 accounts at first, and that number will probably grow by a couple of 1000s once I add in some sections for alumni to use. Has anyone administered a site with that many users yet? After looking through the documentation and playing with the site for 2 days ... I see only limited user management support in Tiki itself. For instance, my first task will need to include importing a list of 800 or so users with peassigned passwords, and assigning them all to a specific group. Is there any batch import feature hiding that I don't know about? I noticed that 1.6Rc1 (which I have installed) has LDAP support for user management. I assume this could be helpful in managing a large quantity of users. But - I've never used LDAP before ... so I'm not sure where to begin. Any pointers on how to get started? Another question I have is how would you reset the password of a user that forgot it? On the user admin page, I don't see a change password button ... am I missing something? I'm very excited about the future of Tiki ... if the user account issues can be clarified, I'll be completely impressed, and be able to set something up that will impress my boss. :-) Thanks, -Eric |
