HI, I have been somewhat absent from the Thinstation circles. I have thinstation installed on about 100 Dell Optiplex 170L machines and they have worked without fault for years. The thinstations boot and present the user with three options An rdp session, shutdown and reboot. I have set the screen resolution to 1024x768 as this is the max resolution of the Dell monitors. Recently, our school installed projectors into most classrooms and staff have been projecting their thin client sessions to the walls. In the first week, three of my thinstations died presenting the user with a screen resolution of 800x600 instead of the fixed 1024x768. Now I know that Linux probes the screens and at first I thought the projectors might be giving something strange back and the resolution is being set to 800x600 by default because of the projector. However,iIf I disconnect the projectors and plug the Dell Screens back in directly they still present the user with 800x600. When thinstation boots I can see that Xorg is probing and it sees all the resolutions of the video card up to 1280xwhatever but for some reason it now defaults to 800x600. Xorg reports no such mode "1024x800". All the other machines continue to work at 1024x768 without issue. At first, I thought something had burnt out on the video card but I can get 1024x768 from a SLAX CD and also from a Win XP boot disk. Something has changed but I am not sure what. Has anyone got any suggestions? I am using the Intel 865G driver . I have tried using the Thinstation LiveCD and once again it only sees 800x600.
