Hola, Todd.

I guess i should add that i've only been able to get this working with the Beta-ish version of Ts-omatic that contains all the contrib packages(http://www.b2-net.com/tom ). It didn't work when i tried to build on a linux machine i followed the directions to a Tee, even had a second set of eyes looking.

package lprng  is what enabled me to get this far. ( this is what gives me the printer forwarding like on a windows 2000 or xp desktop would do or a full desktop linux box.)

Thanks
Edward

The issues I had were displayed when using rdesktop to connect with a

running a similar setup.  My suggestion would be to verify that 'Brother
HL-2040 Series' is the exact name of the driver you have installed on the
server.  Any variance may cause problems.  Also, try updating your TS to the
latest version.  It seems unlikely to fix problems at first, but it has been
helpful in solving other issues I ran into.

In addition to your thinstation.conf file, be sure your build.conf has usb
printing enabled.  I also enabled the lp_server and lpr packages, but am not
sure if they are required.

Sample build.conf file
...
module usb-printer      # Needed for USB-Printers
...
package lp_server       # Remote printing daemon (JetDirect compatible)
package lpr             # LPR Print Server, for use with samba-server
package
...

Subject: [Thinstation-general] rdp usb printer redirection

I seem to be having a problem noted by others in the archives but I am not
sure if there is a solution current.

For the last six months I have used TS 2.1.1 in a twenty workstation
environment with an e-smith primary domain controller and WinConnect servers
printing to network printers.

I have been investigating local USB printing this week-end. I have reached
the point where I can see the printer on the terminal server in the
appropriate session but printing a test page kills the connection.

I note that Todd Marchal solved this problem
(http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message.php?msg_id=13240407) by
specifying his printer. However doing this with my settings has not helped.

SESSION_1_RDESKTOP_OPTIONS="-u gmcuser -a 16 -r printer:usb='Brother HL-2040
Series' -r  sound:local"
snip
PRINTER_0_NAME="usb"
PRINTER_0_DEVICE=/dev/usb/lp0
PRINTER_0_TYPE=U

Cating the boot.log > /dev/usb/lp0 pushed out a couple of blank pages.

I also note the following build warning errors (i.v.), two of which relate
to rdesktop. Some googling did not help me find the solution to this
problem.

I suppose the first thing to do is to try again with 2.1.3 but I am not
terribly confident that this will be the fix.

David
