sorry but my english isn't very well and i am a relative newbee to unix-like
but i hope i am able to explain what kind of problems i got.
An old 466DX2-66 with two 3Com Etherlink III (3c509B) ISA NIC's
1) First i have disabled the "plug and play" with the 3com tool (3c5x9cfg.exe),
have noticed the IRQ and IO-Adress of both NIC's:
first nic: IO 0x320, irq 3, Tranceiver TP, Boot PROM disabled, pnp disabled,
full duplex disabled
second nic: IO 0x340, irq 5, Tranceiver TP, Boot PROM disabled, pnp disabled,
full duplex disabled
After that i begann the installation of "The Wall":
port ep0 0x320
irq ep0 3
iomem ep0 0 # i think there is no I/O space nessesary - i am wrong???
port ep1 0x340
irq ep1 5
iomem ep1 0 # i think there is no I/O space nessesary - i am wrong???
Everything seems to be ok, after i quit the network configuration:
/kernel: ep0: <3Com 3C509-Combo Etherlink III> at port 0x320-0x32f irq 3 on
/kernel: ep0: Ethernet address 00:a0:24:xx:xx:xx #MAC address is not interesting
/kernel: ep1: <3Com 3C509-Combo Etherlink III> at port 0x340-0x34f irq 5 on
/kernel: ep1: Ethernet address 00:a0:24:xx:xx:xx #MAC address is not interesting
But than this messages:
/kernel: ep2 at port 0x320 irq 3 drq 0 on isa0
/kernel: ep2: No I/O space?!
/kernel: ep2: ep_alloc() failed! (6)
/kernel: ep2: device_probe_and_attach: ep2 attach returned 6
/kernel: ep3 at port 0x340 irq 5 drq 0 on isa0
/kernel: ep3: No I/O space?!
/kernel: ep3: ep_alloc() failed! (6)
/kernel: ep3: device_probe_and_attach: ep3 attach returned 6
What is going wrong?? I only have 2 Nic's !!
The rest is ok, but after i logged in, changed the rc.conf and ppp.conf and
tried to establish
a ppp connection the is somthing going wrong:
Working in interactive mode
Using interface: tun1 <--- that shoud be tun0 - why tun1 ????
The first p gets to P, but no connection is possible!!
2) When i configure the nic's that pnp is enabled, and let ep0 and ep1 in the
network configuration of "the wall" disabled everything is allright but the
nic's become ep2 and ep3. There is no message that something is not ok, but
again ppp wants to make a connection with tun1 - but no connection can be established
- what is going wrong??
Every help is wellcome...
thanks in advantage
