To reproduce this bug, simply use a

\begin{enumerate}
\item something
\begin{proof}
\begin {enumerate} (type any text here to create error)
\item something 2
\end {enumerate}
\end {proof}
\item something 3
\end {enumerate}

Texstudio produces no warnings or errors, even though there is clearly a piece of erroneous formatting. This causes the inner enumerate and the outer to mix together. in other words, a '3' and an 'a' could be combined together in a strange fashion.

Discussion

  • the syntax checker uses a simplified model for checking correctness, it simply can't be complete and is only intended to give a quick hint on obvious errors.

    There is no way that we tweak it to check that proof and enumerate should not be mixed together. That is for the real latex compiler to do.
