from a mail:

Now the solution I am suggesting is a switch with a keyboard shortcut,
chosen among the unused ‘ctrl+letter’ ones, that switches the Latin-input
method to the Greek-input one (this is what emacs does); when Greek-input
is in force and the same key strokes of the last verbatim display are input,
then TeXstudio should directly interpret them and translate them to the
actual Greek glyphs to be input to the screen and saved to disk when the
source .tex file is saved.

ackage; similar actions are performed with XeLaTeX and LuaLaTeX.
For your convenience the unaccented Greek letters correspond to the
Latin ones according to the following table:

The subscript iota ia postfixed; prefixed diacritics may be collected after
a single backslash, as in >’, \"~ and the like. In order to implement
the editor interpretation of the accent macros the backslash might not
be necessary.

In any case the ultimate source of information is available in the “us-
age.pdf” file in the .../doc/generic/babel-greek/ folder. In oder to im-
plement the editor interpretation of the accent macros the backslash is not
necessary.
