When a .tex file contains instructions such as typeout (that prints a propmpt on the console) and typein (that reads an answer that the user typesets in response to the prompt) you cannot work in nonstopmode; if you set errorstopmode in the specific "Command", the program stops waiting for an answer, but there is no console where to write it. The log window does not contain the prompt, and no other window appears to be suitable for that. Is it possible to manage this situation that is very common with documented TeX files (.dtx files)?

You could try to start latex in a separate console.

If you are on win, something like this may work (untested)
    cmd /K start pdflatex [options]
