There are some short commands that I am used to write
entirely, for instance the \cite command. The point is
that when for instance you type '\cit' then Ctrl+Space
it completes to '\cite{}', but '\cite' Ctr+space does
not add the trailing '{}'
I dont know about the qwerty keyboard, but on the
french one, the '{' and '}' are painfull to find ;)

Well, { is easy on an American keyboard but somewhat hard on
    a Finnish one :-)

The only solution would be to include the braces into the
completion list, but then they would show up in the
completion menu, which wouldn't look nice. This is a feature
    of Eclipse's content assist.

An alternative would be to automatically insert a } when you
type a {, just as happens in the Java editor for almost any
type of paren. Same with [.
