On the TEI Lite Gudelines one can read:

In retrospect, it was predictable that many people should imagine TEI Lite to be all there is to TEI, or find TEI Lite to be far too heavy for their needs.

If I don't get it wrong the final setennces should read like:

... TEI Lite to be all there is to TEI, or find the full TEI schema to be far too heavy for their needs.

At least, the original wording seems contradictory to me.

Just in case it helps,

Pablo

Actually, this sentence makes perfect sense to me: it suggests that there are two poles of response to TEI Lite:

    - Those who think it's all there is to TEI.

    - Those who find that, despite its being "lite", it's still too big and complicated.

But if would be good if the original author(s) could weigh in and reveal whether that was their intent. Lou?

Martin's reading coincides with mine, and (presumably) most other readers of this text.

  • I see the point now.

    How about the following alternatives?

... TEI Lite to be all there is to TEI, or find even TEI Lite to be far too heavy for their needs.

... TEI Lite to be all there is to TEI, while others might consider even TEI Lite to be far too heavy for their needs.

Maybe this isn't needed, but in my opinion marking the opposition would make it clearer.

Just a suggestion, because I'm the one that that is new to this document (and English isn't my mother tongue)..

PS: sorry for the dup (generated going back with Firefox [my guess]).

Thanks for the suggestion, but I think the text is fine as it is.
