The startup time of a wrapped application can be terribly
slow when used on a system with with anti-virus
software installed. The slowdown seems to be related
to the virus software checking the contents of the
wrapped application as if it were a zip file. (which it is)
Turning off the check of zip files returns the operation to
normal. However, this isn't a workable solution as it
requires all users of the wrapped application to modify
their security settings.

We are using TclPro version 1.4.1.

Doing a quick search of the Tcl newsgroup I found the
following information:

q=McAfee+group:comp.lang.tcl.*&hl=en&lr=&selm=cX_4

The Windows versions of freeWrap are now compressed
using PEcompact instead of UPX. UPX compressed
executables have serious incompatibility problems with
some Windows-based anti-virus programs (e.g. Norton,
McAfee). This incompatiblity expresses itself in slow
listings for directories containing wrapped applications,
slow startup of freeWrap and wrapped applications. The
Linux versions of freeWrap are still compressed with
UPX.
