Submission of Summaries Tcl/Tk 2016 will be held in Houston, Texas, USA from November 14, 2016 to November 18, 2016. The program committee is asking for papers and presentation proposals from anyone using or developing with Tcl/Tk (and extensions). Past conferences have seen submissions covering a wide variety of topics including: * Scientific and engineering applications * Industrial controls * Distributed applications and Network Managment * Object oriented extensions to Tcl/Tk * New widgets for Tk * Simulation and application steering with Tcl/Tk * Tcl/Tk-centric operating environments * Tcl/Tk on small and embedded devices * Medical applications and visualization * Use of different programming paradigms in Tcl/Tk and proposals for new directions. * New areas of exploration for the Tcl/Tk language Submissions should consist of an abstract of about 100 words and a summary of not more than two pages, and should be sent as plain text to tcl...@go... no later than September 12, 2016. Authors of accepted abstracts will have until October 24, 2016 to submit their final paper for the inclusion in the conference proceedings. The proceedings will be made available on digital media, so extra materials such as presentation slides, code examples, code for extensions etc. are encouraged. Printed proceedings will be produced as an on-demand book at lulu.com The authors will have 30 minutes to present their paper at the conference. The program committee will review and evaluate papers according to the following criteria: * Quantity and quality of novel content * Relevance and interest to the Tcl/Tk community * Suitability of content for presentation at the conference Proposals may report on commercial or non-commercial systems, but those with only blatant marketing content will not be accepted. Application and experience papers need to strike a balance between background on the application domain and the relevance of Tcl/Tk to the application. Application and experience papers should clearly explain how the application or experience illustrates a novel use of Tcl/Tk, and what lessons the Tcl/Tk community can derive from the application or experience to apply to their own development efforts. Papers accompanied by non-disclosure agreements will be returned to the author(s) unread. All submissions are held in the highest confidentiality prior to publication in the Proceedings, both as a matter of policy and in accord with the U. S. Copyright Act of 1976. The primary author for each accepted paper will receive registration to the Technical Sessions portion of the conference at a reduced rate. Other Forms of Participation The program committee also welcomes proposals for panel discussions of up to 90 minutes. Proposals should include a list of confirmed panelists, a title and format, and a panel description with position statements from each panelist. Panels should have no more than four speakers, including the panel moderator, and should allow time for substantial interaction with attendees. Panels are not presentations of related research papers. Slots for Works-in-Progress (WIP) presentations and Birds-of-a-Feather sessions (BOFs) are available on a first-come, first-served basis starting in August 22, 2016. Specific instructions for reserving WIP and BOF time slots will be provided in the registration information available in August 22, 2016. Some WIP and BOF time slots will be held open for on-site reservation. All attendees with an interesting work in progress should consider reserving a WIP slot. Founder of Tool Command Language to talk about Tcl Past, Present & Future Ann Arbor, MI -- August 16, 2013 -- The Tcl/Tk User Association, which is celebrating over 20 years of innovation using the Tool Command Language (Tcl), confirmed today that John Ousterhout will be a Featured Speaker at the conference in New Orleans, LA from Sept 23-27, 2013. Ousterhout is the original developer of the Tcl and Tk programming language, a combination of the Tool Command Language and the Tk graphical user interface tookit (Tk). His presentation will focus on the evolution of Tcl/Tk from its original language format created at the University of California Berkeley to the most robust and easy-to-learn dynamic programming language that seamlessly powers today's applications. He is also the author of Tcl and the Tk ToolKit (2nd Edition). "John started a revolution born out of frustration," says Clif Flynt, President, Tcl Community Association and author of Tcl/Tk: A Developer's Guide. "Before Tcl, programmers devised their own languages that were intended to be embedded into applications. By creating Tcl/Tk, John created a language for rapid prototyping that works immediately." The Tcl New and Proven user conference will feature several Tcl experts including Jeff Hobbs, Chief Technical Officer at ActiveState, Gerald Lester, creator of Tcl Web Services and a keynote speech by Karl Lehenbauer of FlightAware.com. Programmers attending the conference will learn the best practices for using Tcl's new object-oriented commands and widgets as well as seeing new applications and techniques in the fields ranging from business applications to health, aerospace and beyond. "The Tcl New & Proven User Conference will be focusing on innovation throughout the years," says Flynt. "We are very pleased to have two of the people who helped create the Tcl we know today at our 20th conference." Interested in attending the Tcl conference? Go to http://www.tcl.tk/community/tcl2013/ to register. Learn more about Tcl/Tk by visiting the Tcl Developer Xchange http://www.tcl.tk/ where you can download Tcl 8.6 and a free trial of TDK 5 (Tcl Dev Kit). ### About Tcl/Tk (http://www.tcl.tk/) Celebrating over 20 years of providing rapid prototyping, Tool Command Language (Tcl) is an open source, robust, powerful and easy-to-learn dynamic programming language ideal for today's web and desktop applications, networking, administration, and testing. Tk is a graphical user interface toolkit that enables the development of native-looking GUIs on multiple platforms such as Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. The combination of Tcl and the Tk GUI toolkit is referred to as Tcl/Tk.. The vibrant Tcl user community comes together on the Tcl Developer Xchange website hosted by ActiveState (http://www.tcl.tk/), which provides a variety of resources for programmers working with Tcl/Tk to increase their productivity and share ideas. Worldwide Tcl conferences, Tcl/Tk downloads and access to the Tcler's Wiki are all available online at the Tcl Developer Xchange. The latest books, tutorials and demos are also accessible from this site along with the Tcl core development team that steers the ongoing evolution of the language. Dear Jeff, Thank you for responding. I don't make sure to compile more large. The message "out of stack space (infinite loop?)" was printed by the interpreter in tclsh. To make more large stack space is option of "configure" command ? That issue happens inside tclsh8.5. That error message is created by Tcl_Eval in an interpreter in tclsh8.5, below. int proc_run(ClientData cd, Tcl_Interp *interp, int argc, const char *argv[]) { if( Tcl_Eval(g_interp, (std::string("run")+" "+argv[1]).c_str()) == TCL_ERROR ) { std::cerr << Tcl_GetStringResult(g_interp) << std::endl; exit(1) ; } <===[HERE] pthread_mutex_unlock(&g_mutex); pthread_mutex_lock(&g_mutex); return TCL_OK; } g_interp is an interpreter in tclsh. In Tcl_Eval(g_interp, "run 0") or Tcl_Eval(g_iterp, "run 1"), issue happened. About tclsh8.4, even if libsample.so links either libtcl8.4.so or libtcl8.5.so, programs runs correctly. About tclsh8.5, even if libsample.so links either libtcl8.4.so or libtcl8.5.so, the program doesn't run. If this line is omitted and printf is added, even about tcl8.5, it runs. Software architecture is different, between 8.4 and 8.5 ??? # I would like tclsh to be replaced by 3rd-party tools, in actual use... I don't understand what's happen. Are you making sure to compile with larger stack space for each thread? There is a setting either in the compiler or even sometimes at runtime. It may just be that we are using more stack space that effects the app, but can be modified by compile time thread stack enlargement. Dear Sirs/Madams, I'm TCL C API user and have trouble. Since I would like to have asked about TCL API C, I sent this mail. I have a question about difference between Tcl 8.4 and Tcl 8.5. When I made Tcl-Interpreters run on PThread using Tcl 8.4, this was good but when I made Tcl-Interpreters run using Tcl 8.5, this wasn't good. Executable code prints "out of stack space (infinite loop?)". I can't guess causes. I'm wondering if you could tell me solution. I write details using sample program. Attached file "sample.tgz" has following files. sample.cpp : source file base.tcl : tcl script for tclsh chile0.tcl : tcl script called by base.tcl. (for thread 0) chile1.tcl : tcl script called by base.tcl. (for thread 1) Makefile : makefile make.sh : shell script for make run.*.sh : shell script for execution *.log : log file I would like interpreters to run on tclsh. For example, if there is following description, I would like child0.tcl and child1.tcl to be interpreted in child threads. load ./libsample.8.5.so sample child0.tcl child1.tcl I would like "run" command in child0.tcl or child1.tcl to be sent to tclsh. Source code is "sample.cpp". In sample.cpp, 1) Command "sample" add to interpreter of Tclsh, at function "Sample_Init". 2) Arguments of command "sample" are file names. Function for "sample" is "proc_sample". In this function, threads are made for each file name, and threads are joined. "interp_thread" is thread function, and this argument is file name. 3) The first of "iterp_thread" is "mutex_lock" and the last is "mutex_unlock". Inside, a) Tcl_CreateInterp b) Tcl_Init c) Tcl_CreateCommand d) Tcl_FileEval At c), I add "run" to each Tcl interpreter on PThread. Function of "run" is "proc_run". 4) At "proc_run", Tcl_Eval is called for tclsh. and then "pthread_mutex_lock", "pthred_mutex_unlock" are called. I executed "do.sh". executable code using Tcl 8.4 was correct, but executable code using Tcl 8.5 wasn't correct. Executable code using 8.4 printed following messages. base: run 1 base: run 1 base: run 1 base: run 1 base: run 0 base: run 0 base: run 0 base: run 0 Executable code using 8.5 printed following messages. out of stack space (infinite loop?) I don't know what's happened. Excuse me, I would like to fix source code. Could you please tell me solution ? Thank you for reading to the last. Takayuki, SASAKI |

when i am building thread 2.6.7 with tcl 8.4 in visual studio 2005, generated dlls are giving error. that dll is not loadable through java program and giving error like: <http://tcl.2662.n7.nabble.com/file/n62171/Untitled.png> when i am opening it through dependency walker, no error no warning. but dependent MSVCR80.dll is not correct. thread26.dll should take correct MSVCR80.dll from windows folder but it is taking from oracle client installation folder or from PATH(environment variable) variable that is set in my pc. I am working in WINDOWS environment. -- View this message in context: http://tcl.2662.n7.nabble.com/Thread-2-6-7-Release-Candidate-tp59907p62171.html Sent from the tcl-threads mailing list archive at Nabble.com. |

Hi, I am new to using thread in TCL . I am trying to install tcl8.4.15. I did follwing steps : 1. downloaded from http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/tcl/tcl8.4.15-src.tar.gz 2. copied to /usr/local/src 3. untared and ..\src\3rdparty\thread 4. if not defined MSVCDir call vcvars32.bat set INCLUDE=..\..\..\STLport\stlport;%INCLUDE% 5.nmake -f makefile.vc OPTS=threads TCLDIR=..\..\..\tcl but build thread26.dll is giving "package require Thread" : can't find package Thread while executing "package require Thread" (file "./sample.tcl" line 2) if I am loading thread26.dll with java like: <http://tcl.2662.n7.nabble.com/file/n62100/Untitled.png> System.loadLibrary("thread26"); it is giving error: Runtime Error: R6034 An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly. -- View this message in context: http://tcl.2662.n7.nabble.com/Issues-installing-8-4-with-pthread-enabled-tp59957p62100.html Sent from the tcl-threads mailing list archive at Nabble.com. |

20'th Annual Tcl/Tk Conference (Tcl'2013) http://www.tcl.tk/community/tcl2013/ September 23 - 27, 2013 Bourbon Orleans Hotel New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Important Dates: Abstracts and proposals due June 22, 2013 Notification to authors August 5, 2013 Author materials due September 2, 2013 Tutorials Start September 23, 2013 Conference starts September 25, 2013 Email Contact: tcl...@go... Submission of Summaries Tcl/Tk 2013 will be held in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA from September 23 - 27, 2013. * New areas of exploration for the Tcl/Tk language Submissions should consist of an abstract of about 100 words and a summary of not more than two pages, and should be sent as plain text to <tclconference AT googlegroups DOT com> no later than August 5, 2013. Authors of accepted abstracts will have until September 2, 2013 to submit their final paper for the inclusion in the conference proceedings. The proceedings will be made available on digital media, so extra materials such as presentation slides, code examples, code for extensions etc. are encouraged. Printed proceedings will be produced as an on-demand book at lulu.com The authors will have 25 minutes to present their paper at the conference. Slots for Works-in-Progress (WIP) presentations and Birds-of-a-Feather sessions (BOFs) are available on a first-come, first-served basis starting in August 5, 2013. Specific instructions for reserving WIP and BOF time slots will be provided in the registration information available in June 3, 2013. Some WIP and BOF time slots will be held open for on-site reservation. All attendees with an interesting work in progress should consider reserving a WIP slot. Registration Information More information on the conference is available the conference Web site (http://www.tcl.tk/community/tcl2013/) and will be published on various Tcl/Tk-related information channels.
