Thanks to Donal, Vince and Jim for your constructive suggestions on this = TIP. As far as I understand it there is no objection to the principle of havin= g=20 angled text on a canvas. The questions that now need to be addressed are=20 those of implementation, principally: =09how will it work on non-X platforms; =09is it properly portable across the whole gammit of X servers (past and= =20 present). Would it be possible to have a vote on this TIP now? Is acceptance in=20 principle enough for approval or is there more to do?=20 Simon Geard On Friday 31 Jan 2003 10:05 am, Donal K. I'm sure that w= ith=20 enough time I could do the necessary work, but I have worked on enough=20 software projects to know that it is always best to code your extension i= n=20 such a way that it forms a natural part of the designed whole. > Donal wrote: > I've not looked at the source to your change yet, but does it rely (on > Unix/X) on the presence of a font server or suitable Xserver extensions= ?=20 The xvertex code is not based on any recent X extensions and to the best = of my=20 memory it will work on X11R3 - how far back does it need to go? |
