Bugs item #1190891, was opened at 2005-04-27 10:05 Message generated for change (Tracker Item Submitted) made by Item Submitter You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=110894&aid=1190891&group_id=10894 Category: 35. Pathname Management Group: current: 8.4.9 Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Submitted By: Vince Darley (vincentdarley) Assigned to: Vince Darley (vincentdarley) Summary: 'glob' man page issues Initial Comment: Two issues: (i) The glob man page should be more explict that it does not guarantee any particular order (with respect to sorting) in the returned list. (ii) The page contains this text: Unlike other Tcl commands that will accept both network and native style names (see the \fBfilename\fR manual entry for details on how native and network names are specified), the \fBglob\fR command only accepts native names. .TP Which has two sub-issues: (a) The 'filename' man page does not contain the word "network" anywhere, so it is hard for the user to know what to make of the above. (In addition, 'native' is misleading, since glob will accept a path that doesn't look like what 'file nativename' produces). (b) As far as I know, 'glob' is happy with any valid filename given to it, including things like windows shares //computer/shared/etc. So, perhaps this caveat in the glob man page should just be removed? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=110894&aid=1190891&group_id=10894 |
