Geometry Management Group: = 8.2 >Status: Closed >Resolution: Duplicate Priority: 1 Submitted By: Brent B. Welch (welch) >Assigned to: Mo DeJong (mdejong) Summary: pack v grid: Geometry managers contend for control of containers Initial Comment: OriginalBugID: 677 Bug Version: 8.2 SubmitDate: '1998-09-11' LastModified: '1999-12-14' Severity: MED Status: Assigned Submitter: lfb ChangedBy: hobbs RelatedBugIDs: 2444 OS: Linux OSVersion: NA Machine: NA FixedInVersion: NA Mixing pack and grid in the same container can cause the two geometry managers to contend for who is going to control the size of the container (unless pack propagate is turned off). This manifests itself in various ways, usually as an infiinite loop. On Linux, I have seen this crash the Xserver. It looks like we need to register the fact that the first manager is managng that container, and be more graceful when the second manager tries to interfere. Though I do not think that people should mix geometry managers in the same container, it is more often accident than artiface, and we should handle this more gracefully.
