There are no PPC based versions of Mac OS X that can't handle running the PPC side of a Universal binary. That's been a part of Mac OS X since it's inception, or really from long before that since it's been a feature of Mach-O since the NeXT days. The only thing you have to worry about with using Universal binaries (the marketing folks say we aren't supposed to call them fat) is that they make for bigger downloads...
