For the purposes of our own product development, we support MacOS X 10.2 = and later. This means that we need to build Tcl/Tk from source, as well as recent versions of the most quickly changing extensions, such as Tile. To help promote the widespread use of TkAqua, we'd like to make our = build available to anyone who can benefit from it. To this end, I have = created a draft distribution available from http://simulistics.com/tcltk/ Our chosen format is a cross between two of Daniel Steffen's: the stand-alone "Wish Shell" plus extensions from the batteries-included distribution within its own library. This makes it easy for a novice to = get started, whilst also offering a good platform for developers creating a native MacOS X application from their own scripts. I'm asking for suggestions as to: (a) whether making this build available is appropriate - I am assuming = that the reason that Daniel Steffen dropped support for 10.2 is only lack of time/resources; (b) where this build should be available from - Simulistics.com is = available if it helps, but there are more obvious spots. Any other feedback is welcome too, of course! Kind regards, Alastair Davies |
