This is a known bug. The QuickDraw version of the Text widget doesn't properly handle unicode characters. Benjamin Riefenstahl has a patch worked up to convert the Text widget drawing to ATSU, but it is not all the way done yet. Last I heard, Daniel had found some performance problems with the patch that needed work.
