No

Tcl Version: 8.4.4
OS: Win 2k Pro
Problem behavior:

The command

regsub {(^|\n)+\.*b} \n.b "" tmp

generates the above error message.

Here's another case that may or may not be due to the
same bug. I don't have time to distill it down to the
minimum-sized test:

set eventRegexp {(^|[\n\r]+)\.*\?<.*?(\n|\r)+}
set _results_queue "TQ\r\n.?<5000267>Test already
stopped\r\n"
regsub $eventRegexp $_results_queue {} _results_queue

Your efforts are appreciated.

    The cause of (and the resolution for) this bug is the same as
    for bug 505048.
