Severity: LOW
Status: Released

FixedInVersion: 8.3b1
ClosedDate: '2000-10-25'

Name:
Lee Bernhard

ReproducibleScript:
scan %d 1 foo

ObservedBehavior:
Try this:

% scan %d 1 foo
variable is not assigend by any conversion specifiers

Someone spelled "assigned" wrong. I feel this bug is crucial to the future of the Tcl language.
If it is not fixed, children may learn to spell assigned incorrectly every time they use scan
wrong. This just will not do.

DesiredBehavior:
I expect to see assigned spelled with an 'n'.

This was already fixed for 8.3, along with the new scan functionality.
Interesing note - this bad spelling had propagated itself throughout
the test suite that checked this, so someone wasn't reading...
