#1424 Exception on Closin TaskCoach

Florian George

When closing TaskCoach, I am getting this taskcoach.exe.log contents (always the same, tried a few times):

Exception in thread APScheduler:

error: can't start new thread

Any other information you need to reproduce/fix this?

  • I guess this happens if the interpreter shuts down at the same moment a job is fired... I'll see if there is a way to "shutdown" apscheduler first.

  • Doesn't seem to be what I thought it was. Could you attach your TaskCoach.ini file, as well as your anonymized task file ? Also, what's your version of Windows ?

    Windows 7 SP1 x64

(seems like you can only attach one file per edit)

  • No luck, I don't get the error... Would you have a step-by-step way to reproduce this ?

    1. Open the .tsk file by doubleclicking it.
    2. Let the (sorted by priority) top task run for 4-8 hours.
    3. Stop the Task
    4. Press Ctrl+S to save.
    5. Close Taskcoach

I have to say though, that this crash only happens on one certain computer out of the three that I use TaskCoach on with this .tsk file, and not on the other two.

With >4 hours waiting in Step 2, I am able to 100% reproduce the bug on that one machine.

Would it be possible for me to run a modified taskcoach version with heavy logging/tracing enabled?

  • Mmmh, I wouldn't know what to log; looks like the OS tells us we can't create any new thread. Could you check the thread count in the task manager ?

The thread count is 4 before pressing the "X" in the upper right corner, and stays the same at the time the Error message is displayed.

  • Nope, left it running for 12 hours and no problem... I'm afraid I'll never be able to reproduce this if even you don't have it on all computers. Nothing much I can do.
