Is this build close to a stable drop? I'm in the middle of a move, so I won't have internet via desktop for a few days. However, I'm still anxious to see if the same agp issues exist. I have a feeling that it was a build issue, since all it took was for me to rebuild them. On a side note, what's the common chipset vendors used by all of the users/developers on this list. I'd like for everyone to response either on this list or email me directly. I can't use AltME at the moment, so don't respond to this query there. I got a build failure on trying to include a Linux semaphore header, and that's where I stopped that experiment for the moment being. A few basic adaptations to the Genode port would probably do, as the other requirements for the Genode development environment, such as SDL, are simply there in Desktop. > I would like to find the arguments about integrating the Genode in > Syllable in order learn more about it and how it affects the system. Well, in the news item at Syllable Development it says: "We want to explore the opportunities to integrate these into Syllable" so thats why I used the word integrate (yes, Im also aware that it says "explore"). Im not saying its a bad thing. I want to learn more about it and how it fits and affects rest of the system. Perhaps there is something I can help out with. Im sure you have already discussed it somehow and I just wanted to know if that information is available publicly. /Jonas |

I read on OSNews that Genode was ported to the Syllable server and would have been ported to the Desktop as well if the kernel would have been mature enough. I would like to find the arguments about integrating the Genode in Syllable in order learn more about it and how it affects the system. I assume that it has been up for discussion somewhere. Now, where do I find that discussion because I have not seen anything regarding Genode neither in the forums or the mailing list? /Jonas |

My build machine is currently out of action so I can't produce a new build to test, but we'll have one next week to compare. Even with -O2 & -Wall, I still have the same compile results.? The system seems to be ok.? Oddly, I've also been getting strange garbage in my serial debug output at the beginning of each line of output. Also, did you receive the email that I sent to you & Kaj recently?? It wasn't sent through the mailing list, but directly to you two. Dee Sharpe |

Another thing that's interesting is that though both of our systems are requesting different locations for apertures, they both are given the same address:? 0x65cf5000.? I still can't understand why the range they want is invalid for the 0.6.6 builds, but not for the 0.6.5 builds. Dee Sharpe -----Original Message----- From: dem...@ne... To: syl...@li... Well the good news is that the system appears to work with those installed (I didn't have the updated ACPI stuff installed on that machine) Logs are attached: note that the area is still not being created at the requested address, although testgart still runs and appears to be happy. The bad news is we now need to figure out what you are doing differently to the build machine. Did you make any source changes, or just recompiled the same sources as are in CVS? The entire system is recompiled from scratch for every development build, so if you're using the same sources as the development build it must be something in the environments that are different. What CFLAGS etc. did you use? Did you use Builder to build the agp_via driver? Is it possible there are additional patches that are missing from CVS I.e. header changes? -- Vanders http://www.syllable.org ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by the Moblin Your Move Developer's challenge Build the coolest Linux based applications with Moblin SDK & win great prizes Grand prize is a trip for two to an Open Source event anywhere in the world http://moblin-contest.org/redirect.php?banner_id=100&url=/ _______________________________________________ Syllable-developer mailing list Syl...@li... https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/syllable-developer |

Can you retry with those CFLAGS and see if makes any difference to you? -- Vanders http://www.syllable.org |

FWIW, the new acpi and pci drivers work fine for me on VirtualPC (I always use disable_pci_irq_routing=true because of VirtualPC problems). I didn't notice anything remarkable in the log. Things can be unstable in a development build, which is exactly why we do them. I'm confident enough in your changes that I don't think we'll see any regressions if I put them in CVS now.
