Sweep 0.9.3 Released

This is a bug fix release, containing the following changes:

* Fixed bounds checking of mode in speex header. relates to:
http://www.ocert.org/advisories/ocert-2008-2.html
* Fixed bug preventing device dialog being reopened when
closed via the window manager.

All users with speex handling enabled should upgrade

Sweep 0.9.1 Released

0.9.1 is a maintainance release.
The previous release had a bug in the build system that
could result in misconfigured device settings
(with no sound input/ output as a result.)
Please upgrade to 0.9.1 if you experienced this problem.

Sweep 0.9.0 Released using gtk2 for the interface.

Sweep 0.8.1 Released

Sweep is a rocking audio editor and live playback tool for Linux. It supports many music and voice formats including WAV, AIFF, Ogg Vorbis, Speex and MP3, with multichannel editing and LADSPA effects plugins.

This release contains performance improvements for basic editing operations, including reduced memory consumption during cut and paste insert. It also
includes support for creation of new files on the command line, updated handling of raw file loading through libsndfile, and updated support for voice activity detection and intensity stereo coding features of the Speex speech codec.

Sweep tutorial at linux.conf.au

Sweep is a rocking audio editor and live playback tool for Linux. It supports many music and voice formats including WAV, AIFF, Ogg Vorbis, Speex and MP3, with multichannel editing, LADSPA effects plugins and vinyl-like scrubbing.

Conrad will be presenting two sessions at linux.conf.au, January 22-25 2003 in Perth, Australia; a tutorial titled "Using Sweep: Fun with Scrubby", and an overview of Sweep's internals and plugin development.

Sweep 0.5.13 Released

Sweep 0.5.12 released

Sweep is a rocking audio editor and live playback tool for Linux. It supports many music and voice formats including WAV, AIFF, Ogg Vorbis, Speex and MP3, with multichannel editing and LADSPA effects plugins.

This release has new sample rate conversion, cut previewing and prerolling to the cursor. The Italian translation has also
been updated and a bug in loading mp3 files has been fixed.

Sweep 0.5.11 Released

This release has new crossfading and mixing paste methods,
navigation shortcuts and view memories. It includes support
for the latest Speex speech compression beta, and fixes a

Sweep 0.5.9 Released with Speex support

Sweep is an audio editor and live playback tool for GNU/Linux, BSD and compatible systems. It supports many music and voice formats with multichannel editing and
LADSPA effects plugins. Sweep now supports Speex, a special purpose speech codec designed for efficient Voice over IP (VoIP) and file-based compression.

Sweep 0.5.8 released with MP3 support

There is a new page of audio demos made with the Sweep. sound editor. These demonstrate the sounds of Scrubby, a
tool which allows vinyl-like manipulation of digital audio:

Sweep 0.5.7 Released with Ogg Vorbis support

Sweep is a full-featured open source sound editor. You can use Sweep for general sound editing on a Linux or *BSD desktop, and you can also use it as a tool for live DJing and experimental music.

Sweep 0.5.6 Released

Sweep is a sound wave editor with a pesky little virtual stylus called Scrubby. The latest Sweep features include live DJing and experimental music techniques, which will be demoed at the Sydney LUG meeting on Sep. 27 2002; see http://www.slug.org.au/

In 0.5.4, scrubbing is working for reverse playback, and has been tuned for responsiveness independent of sample rate.

Recent major features include precise, vinyl like scrubbing,
looped, reverse, and pitch-controlled playback, playback mixing of unlimited independent tracks, multichannel and
32 bit floating point file support, LADSPA 1.1 effects support and looped and reverse recording.
