Hi Conrad, hi all, Conrad, sorry for not keeping up with sweep developments. The development seem to be hapenning faster than I can test :) and since I've used up all my grant (still trying to finish the music) I've fallen a victim of a day job. Anyways, I was running sweep once in a while but mainly for testing fetish. A couple of things I noticed (version 5.10a, libsndfile1): 1. scrubby - doesn't sound very good on a ppc. Sounds like a rather bad case of samplerate conversion + weird interpolation. I'm quite convinced that this is not intentional. Perhaps when sweep is jackified I could record a sample :) 2. I was playing with the plugins (they seem to be working fine now!) and I had this problem with freeverb3. I used a mono file, set all paramters to some arbitrary values but the wet & dry rather high. I saw in the waveform grow real hot/clipped and... segfault. I can reproduce it everytime with freeverb, haven't extensively tested with other plugins. Here's the backtrace: Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault. It's beacuse I was using a mono file. However, when using dry/wet level on the low side (0.2), the sample gets processed but there is that ugly digital ringing. In any case, freeverb takes a stereo file. But a check would be nice :) Otherwise sweep is great! -- ./MiS Michal Seta http://creazone.eworldmusic.com/doc/mis CreaZone http://www.creazone.com No One Receiving http://www.noonereceiving.32k.org upcoming release: NOR - "The Release of the Wandering-Eyed Girl" http://www.grainofsound.com |

However, if I use the BenH kernel ( http://www.ppckernel.org/source.php ) I get 16 bit sound. You may be having a similar problem. I'm on an iMac, debian-ppc, 2.4.18-rc4-benh. 16bit audio works fine in general and in sweep, except for scrubby. cheers. -- ./MiS Michal Seta http://creazone.eworldmusic.com/doc/mis CreaZone http://www.creazone.com No One Receiving http://www.noonereceiving.32k.org upcoming release: NOR - "The Release of the Wandering-Eyed Girl" http://www.grainofsound.com |
