The Secure Wireless Access Project has made its debut

The Secure Wireless Access Project has announced today the begenning of the SWAP project, or Secure Wireless Access Point. This project is intended for development of a device that will enable any wireless device to bridge secure access between a wired device. The SWAP devices will enable many technologies including IPsec, FreeS/WAN and webmin's administration interface. The main base of the operating system will be GNU Debian Linux. The project will develop many competing technologies including KAME and support for IPv6 (as well as current IPv4 standard). We will also be designing modules to facilitate the tunneling of protocols over the devices such as video (h.323, h.320), audio, SMS, and any TCP/IP compatible protocols. The SWAP boxen will allow the combining of these protocols (such as audio + video = VideoPhone). The boxen will also be able to bridge a wireless to ethernet network, while retaining a robust security policy to allow for total privacy and security. Visit http://www.sourceforge.net/projects/swapos/ for more information.
