I thought I should give the new year of 2008 a good start by releasing a new
version of SvxLink.
There is not many big changes but a bunch om small ones. Mostly bug fixes and
The biggest change is that SvxLink Server now use a third party DTMF decoder
that is much better than the one used previously. Unfortunately this add
another dependency to SvxLink which make it a bit harder to install. However,
the new decoder is so much better to make the effort worth while. The library
that implement the new decoder is called "spandsp" and should be available in
most distributions. Unfortunately this library is in a state of flux so there
is a couple of different versions floating around and all distributions don't
use the same version. This will will make the binaries incompatible inbetween
distributions. Compiling from source is the solution to this problem.
Speaking of compiling, SvxLink now compile out-of-the-box on more
distributions. I have sucessfully compiled SvxLink on Fedora 8, Fedora Core
5, CentOS 5.0, Ubuntu 7.10 and Gentoo. I also made it compile on OpenSUSE
10.3 a couple of weeks back.
