You can now run ./supertuxkart --no-graphics without hanging, it will profile 1 lap using all existing default options. I will add some output at the beginning of the race in profile mode that tells you which karts are racing on which track, and for how long / how many laps...

Yes, this is exactly what is happening.

No --no-graphics would need one of the profiling options. So perhaps just add a default of --profile-laps=1 or so.
