Why you don't use WYSIWYG JavaScript-based editor like CKEditor (http://ckeditor.com) or TinyMCE (http://tinymce.moxiecode.com)?
I want to use this editor. It is very good.
If you want to use special tags (not HTML tags) for text formatting, you can make WYSIWYG editor with special wiki tags. You can use one of this editors or any open source JavaScript editor and remake it code for support your wiki tags.
Please do this to make you wiki much more usable.
