Hi I am a university in student in Brazil and I'm developing an automated telescope by two stepper motors, and would make the communication to its positioning through the stellarium, but was reading in stellarium site that requires a plug-in for this communication. As I develop this plugin in the source code of the program to get some idea?

    Thanks for everyone's attention.

      Hi Thiago,

any progress? If you want to talk about building a telescope tracking
system which is controlled by stellarium tell us a little bit more about
what hardware you want to use. Hardware means not only the telescope mount
but motors, controllers, perhaps microchips for stand alone version.
I'm on the same road, so maybe we could talk about what has to be done.

      cheers,
      Christian

The first thing to build an electronic interface to drive the motors then you can write a computer program to drive it adding features to run the motors at tracking speed.

For more information look for the Bartel's system for driving a telescope. All the electronics and software has already been designed.

Next you need to interface the control to Stellarium. If you use the Meade protocol to read the RA and Dec of the scope position and initiate a goto to a set of coords that you have input you will be able to interface it directly to Stellarium without any firther work.
