I have been trying to get Stellarium to control my Celestron 11 inch SCT.
Under telescope control, it says "connected" However, I have no idea how to
get the scope to slew to anything. Exactly what do you do to get the scope to
slew to an object? What buttons do you push or where do you find the objects
to goto? Do you have to be connected to the internet for Stellarium to goto
objects. Last night, I tried for the first time to get Stellarium to slew to
anything. I double clicked on the star map - NOTHING. I need to know the exact
steps I need to take to get Stellarium to slew to objects and how do you
choose those objects? Thanks. Jim

Hi
I received an e-mail on this but the return address for the reply was blocked
I don't know if I am expected to answer this or whether it is a general
request.
For a full description on connecting Stellarium to a Celestron 11" telescope I
will need a little more information.
What version of Stellarium
What is the protocol of the telescope, I assume it is nextstar
The telescope must be aligned!
You need a suitable cable to the telescope from a COM port on your computer
If there is no COM port you will need to install a USB-COM adaptor and then
check
your computer "system" to find out the COM port number.
Run Stellarium and ensure that the telescope control plugin is loaded at start up.
Select telescope control in Stellarium and start "configure" . This will allow you to select
the com port and the type of telescope protocol (you may need to scroll down
to see
all the options).
Select connect from the menu and if all is well it will indicate that connection has been made.
and the "cross hair" icon will appear over the object that the telescope is
pointing at.
If this is the only telescope the "goto" control will be "ctrl 1". Select the object you wish to
slew to and click on it. Next press ctrl 1 and the telescope will slew to this
object. The
cross hair icon will follow the telescope movement and settle on the desired
object.

Hi, I just joined the forum to try this software with my Nexstar 8se. Will try
this tonight. I have been disappointed with Cartes du Ciel as the interface
seemed buggy, but it did connect.
