Stellarium is a great application, but noticed in version 0.12.1 that constellation and grid lines are no longer anti-aliased. I re-installed version 0.10.5, and I anti-aliased lines were re-enabled.

On Windows I don't notice any visual difference between 0.12.4 and 0.10.1 (the only two versions I have installed at the moment). The anti aliasing features of Qt 4.4 and Qt 4.8 may be handled differently. And what operating system are you using.

Mote: did you remove the old Stellarium user area files between the two versions. They are quite different.

    Thanks for the reply.

I am using Windows 7 SP1. I used the Control Panel to uninstall 0.12.1, and then re-installed 0.10.5, to confirm that my memory was correct in thinking Stellarium did render anti-aliased lines in a previous version. Somewhere between 0.10.5 and 0.12.1 this has changed, at least on my computer.

The old user files were removed.

Here's a portion from the log of 0.10.5:

    2013-10-23T12:27:41
    Unsupported Windows version
    Compiled with GCC 4.4.0
    Qt runtime version: 4.6.2
    Qt compilation version: 4.6.2
    Addressing mode: 32-bit
    Total memory: 2047 MB (unreliable)
Total virtual memory: 2047 MB (unreliable)
    Physical memory in use: 27%
    Processor speed: 2093 MHz
    Processor name: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T6500 @ 2.10GHz
    Processor speed: 2093 MHz
    Processor name: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T6500 @ 2.10GHz
    C:\Program Files\Stellarium\stellarium.exe

The log also states that the OpenGL version is: Qt GL paint engine is: "OpenGL2"

    Thanks,

    JustinN.

I think that 0.12.1 has the new rendering engine that has some problems with line drawing on some systems. It has been reverted in the trunk, so the next version won't have it.

Just to be clear: When I installed 0.12.1 some months ago, it was part of a clean re-install of my operating system, so there was no previous version of Stellarium on my computer at that time, and so no Stellarium user files to delete.

    Thanks,

    JustinN.

My above post was before I saw your reply. I look forward to the next version.

    Thank you,

    JustinN.

the same: no anti-aliased lines on mac OS Mavericks (using version 0.12.1).
    Also, problems when zooming!

Anti-aliasing missing here as well, Stellarium 0.12.4 on Mac OS X 10.9.1. Was working fine before (Vers < 0.12).

    All the best,
