Please see the following section of the STAF User's Guide 
(http://staf.sourceforge.net/current/STAFUG.htm#HDRLINUXINS):

Note, when you are running STAF on Linux RedHat 9.0 or later, you may 
encounter a Segmentation Fault every time you execute the STAF executable. 
To work around this problem, set the following environment variable: 
LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=<kernel-version>

The following versions can be specified for <kernel-version> 
2.4.1 -- Linuxthreads with floating stacks 
2.2.5 -- Linuxthreads without floating stacks

Hello all,
         I installed staf in red hat 9, kernel version 2.4.20-30.9. It 
installed properly. If I execute any staf command in addition to staf 
result it is giving Segmentation fault. Can any one help why it is coming. 
Is it staf fault or my OS fault.
