  • Company wants to use sstp instead of pptp.   Found this client which I think is the only one available for OS X and trying to get it setup on Mac OS 10.8. (aka:  Mountain Lion)

    I went under files and then under version 1.0.7 and downloaded the OS X DMG file and installed the package.   I am trying to run the following command with the username, password and sstp.company.net changed of course:
    sudo /opt/local/sbin/sstpc -log-level 4 -cert-warn -password=password -user=username sstp.company.net defaultroute usepeerdns debug

    The errors  I am seeing in system.log are:
    Aug 22 00:25:48 sstpc: SSTP DATA PKT(11)
    Aug 22 00:25:48 sstpc: SSTP DATA PKT(15)
    Aug 22 00:25:48 sstpc: SSTP DATA PKT(39)
    Aug 22 00:25:48 pppd: EAP refuse to authenticate using type 26

    Aug 22 00:26:47 sstpc: SSTP CRTL PKT(20)
    Aug 22 00:26:47 sstpc:   TYPE(5): ABORT, ATTR(1):
    Aug 22 00:26:47 sstpc:     STATUS INFO(2): 12
    Aug 22 00:26:47 pppd: Modem hangup
    Aug 22 00:26:47 pppd: Connection terminated.
    Aug 22 00:26:47 pppd: LCP close (User request).
    Aug 22 00:26:51 netbiosd: name servers down?

    Am I missing something?   Is the OS X package missing something that I need?  Command wrong?

  • Unfortunately, EAP authentication is not currently supported. Do you know if you can make the request to have your network admin enable support for MS Chap v2?

  • Shouldn't be a problem will have to see how things are setup so it doesn't break something else.  Currently use PPTP for the VPN on the Macs.  Not sure why EAP is being used, would think MS Chap would be used.  Will have to see the setup.  Thanks for the reply!
