Running: sshpass -p testpassword ssh me@remote doesn't take the password from the command line. Setting SSHPASS with setenv and using the -e flag doesn't work either. It still prompts me for the password and the attached screenshot appears. Typing turns the blue boxes to light green and inputting my password and hitting OK authenticates. However, this rather defeats the purpose of using sshpass.

Using NetBSD 6.0.1 amd64 with pkgsrc-2013Q1. I would like to import this into pkgsrc if we can resolve this issue.

  • Sshpass can only work with ssh versions that ask for password on the terminal. It cannot wrap the password prompt for graphical password prompts.

I am not sure what is different with the ssh version you are using, but see if it has an option to turn off graphical password prompting. If that doesn't work, try a different ssh client.
