Do you use courier as your IMAP server? Have you ever wanted to be able
to change your mail account password from within SM while taking
advantage of courier's authentication mechanism? Well, now you can.
You'll need to install the Change password plugin available on the SM
website (the one that uses poppassd to do the password changing). Then
you'll need to go to my website and get courierpassd. Make sure you grab
the right program, there's another one with a very similar name on my site.
Courierpassd is a replacement for poppassd in the context of the Change
password plugin. Instead of using PAM as poppassd does, courierpassd
changes passwords using whichever courier authentication modules you
configured when you installed courier. The interface to courierpassd is
identicle to poppassd so you don't need to modify the php portion of the
plugin at all.
I'm using courierpassd in conjunction with version 1.3 of the Change
password plugin and SM 1.2.7. I see no reason why it wouldn't work with
SM 1.2.8 and Change password 1.4, however.
Get courierpassd here http://www.arda.homeunix.net/store/
Give courierpassd a whirl and let me know what you think of it.
